Description

Captured my first images of Jupiter this year under fair seeing conditions on the evening of May 28-29, 2019. I've been reading about the interesting behavior seen around the Great Red Spot in recent weeks and wanted to get in on the action. Haven't had the SCT out yet this year (having fun widefield imaging with the refractor) and while the collimation check looked ok, I didn't have steady enough conditions to dial it in. The results are not by best, but it was great fun to see the GRS and a couple of moons in one shot. Still working through processing all the captures, but this is the best of the lot so far. Can't quite make out the streamers/filaments seen shearing off the GRS in the images I've seen online, but I have hope...

Imaged with a C8 Evo, custom Siebert 2x barlow, ZWO ADC, Baader Moon & Skyglow filter, and ZWO ASI224MC. This imaging train gives me ~F/20. Image capture using Sharpcap. Stacking in AutoStakkert3. Color balancing and Wavelet sharpening in Registax6. This images is a stack of the best 10% of ~10,000 frames captured over 180 seconds.
